SERB Schools in Theoretical High Energy Physics in India

in brief

The High Energy Physics community in India has been organising SERC Schools in Theoretical High Energy Physics (THEP) since 1985. The objective of these schools is to train Ph.D. students in subjects one needs to learn to do research in THEP and, at the same time, to expose them to recent developments in the field. Preparatory Schools featuring foundational courses were introduced in 1996 and have since been held almost every year. The courses in the Main School are now more advanced. The need for this enterprise and its success lead to schools in the same model in several other disciplines. Today a good number of ‘graduates’ from the SERC School are established researchers and hold faculty positions in various institutes and universities.
